Olympic Trials - Swimming - Record broken

Somebody commented that there was another record broken yesterday.  Katie Hoff broke the womens 400m individual medley world record.  I did not see this one.

Phelps and Hoff wear the speedo LZR fast suit.  Dude…. this thing is like material doping.  Are swimming records going to broken all over the place with this thing?

For those geeks out there like me, the LZR fast uses ultra-sonic welding of the material so no seems.  Sweeet….

Wimbledon - Results

Serena and Venus Williams are both in quarter-finals, furthering the possibility that the 2 sisters can play each other in the womens final.

Roger Federer is in the quarter-finals.

Rafael Nadal is in the quarter-finals.

Cycling - Floyd Landis

Floyd Landis lost his appeal to keep his 2006 Tour de France win. He was accused of doping. He will be the first cyclist in the history of the Tour to have his title stripped for a doping violation. Check out the article if you want more info. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/more/06/30/landis.ap/index.html?eref=rss_topstories

The 2008 Tour De France starts on Saturday July 5th to Sunday July 27th 2008

2007 Winner was Alberto Contador

Olympic Trials - Track

Tyson Gay becomes fastest man, unofficially.  He ran a 9.68 in the 100m.  The world record is 9.72.  Except it does not count because there was too much wind, so the 9.68 does not officially count towards the world record.  Its still pretty cool though.

Soccer - Euro 2008

Spain wins Euro 2008 cup, over Germany 1-0. As mentioned in an earlier post, you are not going to impress anybody that you know this. Most U.S. sports nuts dont like soccer, but I do, so its going in the blog.

Spain had not won the Euro Cup since 1964.

Baseball - Subway series

Mets beat Yankees 3-1 today, Mets win 6 game series 4-2.

Olympic Trials - Swimming

Michael Phelps breaks world record for 400m - individual medley. 400m individual medley is 100m of each stroke, butterfly, back, breast, freestyle.  2 lengths of pool each stroke.

This guy is someone to watch during the Olympics.

Olympics - Track

Olympic trials for track - Tyson Gay sets new U.S. 100m record at 9.77 World record is held by Jamaica’s Usain Bolt, 9.72

Baseball - Subway series

NY Yankees beat NY Mets 3-2, they play each other again today at 1pm est.

Trying to find a little stat nug for you to sound like you know whats going on. Only thing that is moderately interesting is that the Mets are trying to break a .500 season which means, more wins than losses so far in the season. Right now Mets are at 39 wins, 41 losses.

Cant believe I just looked at espn for that stat, but at least you have a little nugget of info.

Baseball - Subway series

We are in the middle of baseball season. Cant stand baseball, so boring, but I am also from NY. So if I dont mention the subway series between Mets and Yankees, you will certainly be out of touch and sound like and idiot. They play today at 4pm est, and 1pm tomorrow.

Soccer - Euro 2008

The finals are tomorrow. German - Spain. Germany is the favorite. Most sports freaks dont even like soccer, but I happen to like soccer. Its on at 2:30 est time on 6/29/08 You wont impress too many people if you know the results of this game, but you never know, some people like soccer and some hate it. I like it, so its going on the blog.

Euro 2008 is like the World Cup, happens every 4 years but its only for european teams.

Wimbledon 2008 Surprises

Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova were both eliminated in round 2.

Wimbledon 2008

Wimbledon is going on right now until 7/6/08. As of today, Wimbledon is in round 4, the round before the quarter finals

NHL Stanley Cup Results 2008

Hockey is over for now. Was played between May 24, 08 – June 4, 08 Detroit Redwings won the Stanley Cup. They played the Pittsburgh Penguins.

I made the mistake this year of asking my nephew, who knows every stat ever for any sport, I asked “When does hockey start?”, he said “Dude… it like game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals”. Another reason for me to start this site.

Tiger Woods out for rest of season

Tiger Woods is out for the rest of the season because of needed knee surgery. His last win was at the US Open on 6/16/08

NBA Finals

You should probably know that the NBA finals took place between 6/5/08-6/17/08, and that its over already. Boston Celtics won the championship. They played the LA Lakers. For more details, check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_NBA_Finals

The only thing I think that is interesting about the above is: Kevin Garnett, celtics player and one of the NBA superstar gazzillionaires, after he won the championship supposedly shouted out the wrong slogan of his sponsor. Check it out. Dude, get your sponsor slogan right.

Welcome
